WHAT IS SCRIPTURE ENGAGEMENT?

Scripture Engagement (SE) is meant to engage people with the Word of God and help them to live out the Scripture. Wycliffe Ethiopia Bible Translation Association (WEBTA) does not only make available the Scripture translated in people’s Mother tongue but it makes sure that the language society uses it for the transformation of their lives.   

What is the use of translating the Scripture if it is not used for bringing life change?  

The goal of Scripture Engagement department is to obtain transformational discipleship and spiritual growth by providing the church and individuals (in Ethiopia and beyond) with key resources and strategies of SE. As Jesus said; “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32, NLT) transformed disciple is one who knows God’s word and remains faithful to it. For the word of God is alive and active (Heb. 4:12, NLT) it will change, challenge and transform our lives.  

Oral Bible Storytelling

Bible Storytelling is an oral method of engaging with the Scripture. It is an entry point for bringing God’s truth to people who are illiterate or prefer to hear or to people who have oral culture to communicate. It can also be used for people without written Scripture. 

Faith comes by hearing 

Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH) is a Bible listening and engagement program based on Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ” (Rom. 10:17, NLT). 

Open bible stories 

Open Bible Stories consists of 50 selected stories of the Bible, from Creation to Revelation, for evangelism and discipleship in text, audio and video form in any languages as an open licensed tool.

Trauma Healing equips local churches to care for people with deep emotional and spiritual wounds of hearts caused by war, domestic violence, natural disasters and other traumatic events.
